Forest School
Open Air Learning’s Forest School is a child-led, play-based program where children are encouraged to explore, discover, and thrive in a natural setting. Centred on the joy of play, exploration, and personal growth, the program gives children the freedom to follow their curiosity and develop a meaningful connection with the natural world.
Inspired by the Scandinavian Forest School movement, our program supports learning through hands-on experiences. As children play, explore, and take on new challenges, they develop essential skills such as resilience, confidence, flexible thinking, creativity, and physical literacy.
Open Air Learning also offers Outdoor Learning – Enrichment Pods for families seeking a more structured program with an academic enrichment focus. While both programs provide meaningful outdoor learning experiences, our Enrichment Pods are designed to help families meet BC curricular outcomes. In this unstructured setting, children thrive as they climb trees, build forts, and immerse themselves in the beauty of the outdoors. Our experienced leaders foster a sense of adventure and curiosity, empowering children to make choices, solve problems, and connect with their peers.
