The teen years are a critical time for growth, discovery, and a sense of belonging and all kids deserve the chance to build strong, lasting social connections. Open Air Learning knows how important these years are. Our Teen Connections program, based in Nanaimo, creates a space where teens can thrive through real experiences that build leadership and life skills while fostering authentic social connection.

Build Their Community

Our program creates a safe, welcoming environment where teens can find their tribe. Through activities that spark curiosity and creativity, your teen will engage in experiences designed to inspire collaboration, critical thinking, and fun. Whether they’re diving into creative projects, solving real-world challenges, or working in teams, they’ll form friendships and memories that could shape their future. We understand how vital it is for parents to trust where their teens are spending time. Led by experienced and compassionate facilitators, our programs provide both structure and freedom. Teens gain the confidence to branch out and grow independently while knowing there’s always guidance and support nearby.

Every part of the program is designed to help teens build essential leadership and life skills they’ll carry into adulthood including:

Enhanced Social Skills Through team-based activities, teens practice communication, empathy, and conflict resolution. They’ll develop the ability to form meaningful relationships in both personal and professional settings.

Personal Growth and Independence Our programs strike a balance between structure and freedom, allowing teens to take ownership of their learning journey. They’ll develop self-reliance, time management, and decision-making skills in a supportive environment.

How does it work and what can we expect?

Each week consists of social time, academic study hall, learner led planning ie brainstorming, PE, and Life Skill Development. Duration of each of activities can shift from week to week for example if teens were to choose to do first aid course for life skill development then the schedule would be adapted to make that work for the duration needed.
